What Does "Seltsam" Mean?

Seltsam is a German word meaning "strange" or "peculiar." It is the kind of strangeness that sparks curiosity — not the kind that pushes you away, but the kind that pulls you in. That spirit is woven into every corner of our glass house, from the eclectic vintage decor to the unexpected menu pairings.

We adopted the name because we believe the most memorable experiences come from places that refuse to be ordinary. A bar on a rooftop? Inside a glass house? With a resident cat named Boba? That is Seltsam — and we would not have it any other way.

The Glass House

Perched on the rooftop of Gervacia Hotel at 152 Amorsolo Street in Legazpi Village, Seltsam occupies a greenhouse-like structure that feels worlds away from the bustling Makati streets below. Take the elevator to the 8th floor, climb a short staircase, and you arrive in our urban oasis.

The glass walls flood the space with natural light during the day, creating the perfect backdrop for brunch. By night, warm lighting and an intimate atmosphere set the mood for cocktails and live music. Despite the glass house design, the space is fully air-conditioned — so you stay comfortable even on the warmest days.

Both indoor and outdoor seating are available, with the outdoor terrace offering sweeping views of the Makati skyline — especially stunning at twilight.

No visit to Seltsam is complete without meeting Boba — our friendly Siamese cat who has become as much a part of the experience as the cocktails and the skyline views. Boba roams freely through the glass house, greeting guests with quiet curiosity and occasionally claiming a chair for an afternoon nap.
